Leeds United saw their four game winning run come to an end in a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Birmingham City.

Jacques Maghoma`s late goal condemned Leeds to a defeat in a lacklustre performance that also saw Leeds fail to score for the first time since October 1st.

Leeds were forced into two changes in midfield with Kalvin Phillips and Conor Shaughnessy replacing the injured Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O`Kane.

Birmingham enjoyed the majority of the play in the first hour without ever troubling Felix Wiedwald in the Leeds goal whilst David Stockdale was also having a quiet afternoon in the Birmingham goal.

The game sprung into life in the final half hour for Leeds when Samu Saiz returned from injury when he came off the bench.

Saiz quickly became involved running at the Birmingham midfield and causing problems for the defence and it was his run that carved out Leeds best chance of the game. Saiz found Pablo Hernandez unmarked but Stockdale kept out his shot and the rebound bounced off the top of the crossbar.

Birmingham then injected some life into their attack with the arrival of Jota and the former Brentford man quickly caused problems down the Birmingham right.

A mix up in the Leeds defence almost allowed Birmingham to open the scoring but Wiedwald saved well from David Davis.

Birmingham scored the only goal of the game with just seven minutes remaining when Wiedwald could only parry Jota`s shot and Maghoma was quickest to react as he fired into the roof of the net.

Hernandez had Leeds best chance to equalise but he could only fire wide as Leeds ended the year with a disappointing defeat.
