Leeds United continued their poor run of form with a 3-1 defeat at Brentford on Saturday.

Andy Lonergan had a night to forget in the Leeds goal as he was at fault for the opening Brentford goal and he will feel he could have done better with Brentford`s second goal.

Lonergan somehow managed to drop an easy cross halfway through the first half and Neal Maupay headed home from close range.

Ollie Watkins then wasted a great chance to double Brentford`s lead before the break but he blazed over from the penalty spot after Pontus Jansson had fouled Maupay in the area.

Leeds head coach Thomas Christiansen made two changes at the break with Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe coming on, giving Leeds much more of a threat.

Ronaldo Vieira saw a long-range effort tipped over by Daniel Bentley in the Brentford goal and minutes later, it was the Brentford`s keepers turn to gift a goal.

Bentley came off his line to claim a Gaetano Berardi high cross but he got nowhere near the ball allowing Ezgjan Alioski to head Leeds level.

Brentford twice hit the woodwork through Watkins and Nico Yennaris.

The home side went ahead again with just five minutes remaining when Yoann Barbet's free-kick somehow beat Lonergan.

Brentford wrapped up the points in injury time when the impressive Ryan Woods steered the ball home.

Leeds have now lost six of their last seven games in the league and they look a shadow of the side that topped the table in September.
