Leeds finish away campaign with a win

Leeds United finished off their away campaign this season with a 3-1 win at Birmingham City.

Second half goals from Matt Smith, Danny Pugh and a Paul Caddis own goal ensured that Leeds beat struggling Birmingham, who slipped into the bottom three following the defeat.

A fairly uneventful game was brought to life just before the hour when Smith rose high to head home a Danny Pugh cross to give Leeds the lead.

Two minutes later and it was Pugh who fired across goalkeeper Darren Randolph to double the lead.

Leeds made the game safe with twelve minutes remaining when Paul Caddis inadvertently diverted the ball past Randolph after a ball in from Ross McCormack.

Federico Macheda pulled a goal back inside the final ten minutes for the home side when he fired low past Jack Butland and despite Leeds playing the final few minutes with ten men after Alex Mowatt was stretchered off having already used their three substitutes, Leeds recorded only their second double of the season.
