Points shared in six-goal thriller

Leeds United and Watford shared six goals in a thriller at Elland Road.

Leeds trailed 2-0 at half time after goals from Troy Deeney and Cristian Battocchio had fired the visitors ahead.

The whites fired out of the traps in the second half. Danny Pugh scored his first goal in two years to reduce the deficit after just five minutes of the second half and Matt Smith equalised with just eleven minutes on the clock in the second half.

Rodolph Austin had a good chance to give Leeds the lead when Jonathan Bond in the Watford goal denied him and Alex Mowatt came close to celebrating his new contract with the club when his effort came back off the crossbar.

Leeds completed the comeback when in form Ross McCormack put Leeds ahead with just twelve minutes remaining but they had to settle for a point when Troy Deeney was first to react to a Paddy Kenny save to equalise for the visitors.

Watford almost won it in injury time when Watford broke and defender Joel Ekstrand found himself in behind the Leeds defence but defender Marius Zaliukas recovered to deny Ekstrand with a crucial block.

An enthralling game finished soon afterwards with both side probably both disappointing and relieved.
