Slack defending proves costly

Leeds went down to a 3-1 defeat at Derby County on Saturday, as sloppy defending proved costly.

Paul Green was at fault for the first after losing the ball and Chris Martin was able to smash the ball home unmarked with Green, Tom Lees and Jason Pearce all going for the same man.

The lead was doubled soon afterwards when Johnny Russell got in behind the statuesque Leeds defence to fire home.

Leeds were given a lifeline on the stroke of half time when Jason Pearce headed home his first goal for the club.

It wasn`t to be as Will Hughes was given time and space before easily beating Pearce to fire home with just under fifteen minutes remaining.

It capped another poor team performance and Leeds must do something to stop the rot that has set in. Leeds now have two weeks before their next game due to the international break and boss Brian McDermott must strengthen his squad.

I would like to see Cairns get a chance... The kid is a natural finisher, he's hungry and is used to playing with Mowatt and Byram. Youth has served us well recently and he could maybe help solve the goal drought. At the moment we look less threatening than my grandma!
