Leeds draw a blank at Blackburn

Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers fought out a goalless draw at Ewood Park as both sides failed to take the chance to move closer to the play-off places.

Leeds started the game well and defender Tom Lees came closest to opening the scoring when he saw his effort cleared off the line.

The Leeds defence were again in good form and Blackburn had to wait until halfway through the first half for their first effort on target when Paddy Kenny got down well to save a Colin Kazim -Richards effort.

Leeds carried the greater threat, enjoying the majority of the player but they lacked a cutting edge in the final third that has been their biggest problem in recent weeks.

In the second half, Ross McCormack missed a good chance earlier in the half when he shot into the side netting and Luke Varney missed the best chance of the game when he completely missed his kick when in a good position.

The usually prolific Jordan Rhodes was having a quiet game in attack for Blackburn and the one time he got in behind the Leeds defence his weak shot went wide.

Despite more dropped points, Leeds remain in ninth place and they are now six points off the play-off places with Brighton and Hove Albion jumping above Middlesbrough in the table.

Millwall are next up for Leeds at Elland Road next Saturday in a game they must take three points from.
