Poleon blows Forest apart

Leeds United returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest at Elland Road.

The win brought to an end the last unbeaten start to the season in the Championship and also some revenge for the 7-3 mauling at Elland Road in March.

19-year-old Dominic Poleon marked his first start in the championship for Leeds with what proved to be the winning goal halfway through the first half.

Leeds boss Neil Warnock was boosted by the news that both Adam Drury and Luciano Becchio were fit to play and it was the latter that got Leeds off to the perfect start inside the first fifteen minutes.

Becchio was on hand to fire into the roof of the net after Sam Byram had knocked the ball back into the middle.

The goal was Becchio`s seventh of the season and he has now scored in all five of his home appearances this season.

With Ross McCormack likely to be out until close to Christmas, youngster Poleon took his chance to impress in the first team.

Poleon was on hand to fire home from the edge of the area after Forest only half cleared.

Leeds should have wrapped up the game on the stroke of half time when Becchio blazed over when in a great position to score.

Forest made two changes at half time in an attempt to get back into the game and they were given a lifeline on the hour when Dexter Blackstock beat Paddy Kenny to the ball to head in.

The goal spurred Forest on to look for an equaliser in the final half hour and despite losing Lee Peltier to an ankle injury, Leeds stood firm to gain their third win of the season.
