Neil Warnock enjoyed his first goals and first win has Leeds manager with a comprehensive win over Middlesbrough.
First half goals from Robert Snodgrass and Luciano Becchio ensured the points returned to Elland Road.
Warnock made two changes to the side from the one that drew at hull City in midweek.
Paul Robinson made his debut in defence in place of Danny Pugh and Aidy White returned after injury in place of Danny Webber.
Leeds started well and Adam Clayton and Robert Snodgrass both had early chances.
Boro had to rely on long-range efforts early on with Nicky Bailey and Marvin Emnes both firing well over from range.
Leeds took the lead on 16 minutes when Aidy White teed up Robert Snodgrass who fired under the body of Jason Steele to score his 12th game of the season.
The lead was doubled ten minutes later when Ross McCormack and Luciano Becchio linked up and McCormack set up Becchio who fired into an empty net.
Andy Lonergan was forced into his first save of the afternoon in the Leeds goal when he forced Barry Robson`s shot out for a corner.
From the resulting corner, Robinson cleared Robson`s cross off the line.
Becchio should have made it 3-0 before half time when he lifted his shot over the bar with just the keeper to beat.
White then had a good chance when McCormack teed him up but he lifted his effort well over.
Leeds were much the stronger going into half time and McCormack fired wide from distance.
Snodgrass had the first chance of the second half for Leeds when he fired into the side netting after being set up by McCormack.
At the other end, Rhys Williams saw his header also go into the side netting as Boro looked for an early goal.
Adam Clayton then saw an audacious attempt from long range take a deflection and land on the roof of the net with the keeper well beaten.
Snodgrass then headed over for Leeds as they remained in control of the game.
Clayton then had another effort go wide after good work between McCormack and Becchio.
McCormack almost made it three when Becchio sent him clear and Steele did well to keep out his effort.
Middlesbrough were reduced to ten men with a little over five minutes remaining after an altercation with Clayton.
The home side nearly got a consolation goal deep into stoppage time when Lonergan spilt a long-range effort from Adam Hammill and Seb Hines could only poke the ball wide of the goal.
The win for Leeds moved them to within four points of the play-off places with ten games remaining.
