Leeds United starting life under new caretaker manager Neil Redfearn with a hard fought 3-0 win at Bristol City, who were down to nine men for most of the second half.
Redfearn made two changes to the side from the one that was beaten by Birmingham City in midweek.
Adam Smith made his debut for the club at right back in place of Zac Thompson and Danny Pugh replaced Andros Townsend on the left.
On a bitterly cold afternoon, played in sleet and snow, Bristol City controlled the game for the first thirty minutes.
Andy Lonergan produced a fantastic save to keep out an Adomah shot down low to his left to keep the scores level.
The game changed in Leeds favour close to half time. Robert Snodgrass gave Leeds the lead after a wonderfully well worked goal. Luciano Becchio put Danny Pugh in behind the City defence. His ball to Ross McCormack was moved on to Snodgrass who fired the ball past David James.
Moments later, McCormack got in behind the last man and he was hauled back by James Wilson, giving the referee no option but to produce a red card.
Despite this, former Leeds United midfielder Neil Kilkenny fired wide of the post from close range in the dying moments of the half.
Kilkenny had run the midfield in the first half for City, so it was something of a surprise when he was substituted at half time.
The home side`s plight was made even harder within ten minutes of the second half. Yannick Bolasie was shown two yellow cards within the space of two minutes and City were down to nine men. The sending off was the fifth player in five games to be sent off against Leeds.
Leeds were now in total control and it only seemed a matter of time before a second goal would come.
McCormack had the ball in the back of the net three times, all three ruled out for offside, before the same man eventually put Leeds two ahead.
McCormack controlled the ball just inside the area and fired his left foot shot underneath James in the City goal.
Despite being down to nine men, Lonergan again produced a great save to deny Liam Fontaine.
Leeds wrapped up the points in the final moments of the game when Becchio fired past James.
A winning start for Neil Redfearn moves Leeds up one place to ninth and they are now just one point outside the play off places.
Next up for Leeds is a home game with inform Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
