Leeds stumbling season continued as they were beaten 1-0 by Reading in another lacklustre performance at Elland Road.
Reading won thanks to a solitary goal by Simon Church inside two minutes and Leeds lacked any real spark that could get them back into the game.
Andy Lonergan returned to the side in goal with Alex McCarthy unable to play against his parent side and it was his mistake, which lead to the goal.
Church was played in behind the Leeds defence and Lonergan stuttered and stalled on a decision, when he could have come out and easily beat Church to the ball.
With Lonergan in no man`s land, Church cleverly chipped him from an acute angle.
It could have been much worse for Leeds in the first half with Jobi McAnuff having a couple of good chances for the visitors.
He first shot just wide when he walked inside the Leeds defence and then Lonergan atoned for his earlier mistake to keep out a low shot.
Leeds best chance of the first half fell to Ross McCormack close to half time but his weak header from close range was easy for Adam Federici in the Reading goal.
Leeds came out with a bit more purpose in the second half and a cross from Paul Connolly hit the top of the crossbar with Federici back pedalling.
Danny Pugh then had a couple of good chances for Leeds blocked by the resolute Reading defence.
Simon Grayson made three changes for Leeds with twenty-five minutes remaining. One of them, Andy Keogh had a decent chance within a few minutes of coming on but shot over the bar.
Leeds lacked any invention and as the game wore on looked less and less likely to find an equaliser with Reading easily seeing out the closing stages.
Leeds are somehow still in the top six but after two shocking performances in their last two games they will soon find themselves slipping down the table unless Grayson can sort out the problems in his Leeds side.
