Leeds had to come from behind to claim all three points as Luciano Becchio marked his return with a goal.
Ross McCormack gave Leeds an early lead but they fell behind until the introduction of Becchio and new signing Mikael Forssell from the bench.
Becchio scored to equalise and McCormack scored his second of the afternoon as Leeds secured the points.
Leeds boss Simon Grayson made three changes for the clash from the one that lost to Ipswich Town last time out
Aidan White was missing through suspension after his sending off at Ipswich Town last time out he was replaced by young 17-year-old Charlie Taylor.
Leeds were dealt a further blow with Adam Clayton missing with a calf strain, he was replaced by the fit again Michael Brown.
Ramon Nunez replaced the departed Max Gradel.
There were also places on the bench for the fit again Luciano Becchio and new signing Mikael Forssell.
Leeds took the lead with the first real chance of the game on eight minutes when McCormack got his head to a Charlie Taylor cross to give Juliano Speroni no chance in the Palace goal.
Palace were soon level when Patrick McCarthy had time to finish at the far post for the visitors.
Leeds almost retook the lead when Nunez saw his cross come back off the post.
Palace were in front on twenty-two minutes when Sean Scannell fired home from close range.
Scannell could have made it three when he headed over when in a great position as the fans became frustrated.
Leeds were under pressure and Nunez had a rare Leeds effort that was easy for Speroni.
McCormack then saw his cross deflected wide with Keogh ready to pounce.
Lonergan had to be on his toes close to half time when he tipped over a shot from Zaha.
A very disappointing first half was brought to an end with a chorus of boos from the Leeds fans.
Palace started the second half on the front foot and Lonergan made a great save to deny Jermaine Easter.
Snodgrass had the first chance of the second half for Leeds but Speroni saved his free kick.
Grayson made a double substitution just short of the hour mark with Luciano Becchio and Mikael Forssell replacing Ramon Nunez and Andy Keogh.
It wasn`t long before Becchio marked his return with a goal when he rose to head home a Ross McCormack free kick.
Leeds secured all three points in the final ten minutes when Forssell headed down for McCormack to score his second of the afternoon.
