Four star Leeds earn the points

Leeds manager Simon Grayson celebrated his 300th game as a manager with a comprehensive win over Hull City at Elland Road to earn their first points of the season.

Goals from Ross McCormack, Tom Lees, Robert Snodgrass and Ramon Nunez secured the victory for Leeds.

Grayson handed a debut to new loan signing Andy Keogh.

The striker came in as Leeds make three changes from the side beaten by Middlesbrough at the weekend.

Leeds made two enforced changes with Jonny Howson and Max Gradel suspended.

Ramon Nunez along with Keogh replaced the duo.

In the defence, Aidy White replaced the injured Leigh Bromby.

Leeds started well and Robert Snodgrass was the first to test Gulacsi in the Hull goal.

Nunez was next to have a chance but his shot went wide of the post.

McCormack was the next Leeds player to have a chance when his shot was deflected for a corner after a quick break from Nunez.

Leeds went even closer to opening the scoring when Nunez saw his shot hit the underside of the bar. McCormack followed in and saw his header go over the bar.

Leeds deservedly took the lead moments later when McCormack headed home at the second attempt after a good cross from Snodgrass.

It wasn`t long before Hull were level when Tom Lees diverted the ball into his own net with striker Matt Fryatt closing in behind him.

The goal unsettled Leeds and Robert Koren glanced a header just wide for the visitors.

Leeds retook the lead when Tom Lees atoned for his own goal when he fired into the roof of the net after Gulacsi made a mistake in the Hull goal.

McCormack thought he had made it 3-1 when he volleyed home from the edge of the area but the assistant`s flag was up for offside.

Leeds deservedly went in at the break in front after a good first half performance.

Robert Snodgrass gave Leeds a dream start in the second half when his 25-yard free kick gave Gulacsi no chance in the Hull goal.

Hull tried to get back into the game and Robbie Brady saw his shot from distance go just wide of the post.

McLean almost got a goal back but Andy Lonergan superbly saved his header.

Leeds were breaking well and Keogh was giving Hobbs a tough time in the Hull defence.

Fryatt then saw his shot saved by Lonergan in a frantic game.

Hobbs then shot wide as Hull continued to look for a goal to get them back into the game.

Leeds made it four when Ramon Nunez picked his spot to beat Gulacsi.

Hull had not given up and McLean flashed a shot across goal.

Snodgrass went close to making it five when his shot went just over the bar.

Former Leeds player Nicky Barmby saw an acrobatic effort go wide, much to the amusement of the Leeds faithful.

It was to be the final action as Leeds claimed a much needed three points.

We needed that tonight. Isn't it funny how losing Gradel and Howson can have such a positive response. Sounds like Keogh made a huge impact and helped the likes of McCormack. What does Grayson do on Sunday with the side. Got to bring Howson in for Brown.

Thought nunez did enough tonight to remain in the side for the west ham game

great win, great game. Grayson has some difficult decisions to make for sunday. whilst I believe howson and gradel are massively important to the team and where two of the best performers last season I'd like grayson to show some balls and stick with some of the players that have shown well on the last two games. maybe stick gradel on the subs bench? :)

Change for this weekend will see us revert to 4-5-1 with Howson replacing Nunez

What a good position to be in, when we have good cover for players that are out...I know a lot want Howson and Gradel back in the team when they return but why not let the team that beat Hull keep playing together...And let the lads that were out fight for their places...Makes the team play that bit better when they know they could lose their place...

Didn't see this performance coming. I think it just shows that we are going to blow hot and cold again this season.
