Doncaster and Leeds battled out a goalless draw in an exciting game at the Keepmoat.
Simon Grayson wielded the axe after the disappointing defeat to Barnsley making five changes to his side.
Ross McCormack, Davide Somma and Alex Bruce all made their first league starts in Leeds colours.
Andy Hughes and Aiden White also came into the side as Grayson made three changes in defence.
Doncaster almost made a great start but a fantastic interception by Hughes denied the Rovers strikers shot on goal.
Leeds first chance came when Gradel`s cross almost caught out Sullivan at his near post.
Shortly afterwards, Leeds had strong claims for a penalty waved away when Alex Bruce`s shot appeared to hit the arm of Shelton Martis.
Leeds new strike force of Ross McCormack and Davide Somma linked up well for Leeds and resulted in McCormack`s shot being deflected for a corner.
The first booking of the night came in the twentieth minute when Bradley Johnson saw yellow for a lat tackle on James Coppinger.
From the resulting free kick, goalkeeper Shane Higgs had to be alert after Somma missed Woods ball into the middle.
Davide Somma had two good chances in the space of ten seconds, firstly his well hit left foot shot was helped onto the bar by Neil Sullivan in the Rovers goal and then he screwed a right foot shot wide of the target.
Rovers best chance of the half fell to Shiels when Andy Hughes got into a bit of a tangle, the ball fell to Shiels whose right foot curling shot hit the outside of the post.
Leeds best chance of the half fell to Somma after good work by Neil Kilkenny and Bradley Johnson. Johnson`s slid the ball through to Somma who disappointingly hit the ball straight at Sullivan.
Kilkenny had Leeds last chance of the half but his shot was blocked by George Friend and went for a corner.
In an entertaining first half, the sides went in all square.
In a much tighter second half Leeds looked the more likely to get a winner.
Davide Somma had another good chance early in the half when he was put through but he dragged his shot wide of the target.
Andy Hughes was lucky to get away with a poor header back towards his own goal, luckily for him Higgs just managed to get the ball ahead of the on rushing Coppinger.
Max Gradel forced Neil Sullivan into a sharp save at his near post and turn the ball out for a corner.
McCormack was next to chance his arm for Leeds, his long-range shot going straight at Sullivan.
McCormack wasn`t to last much longer when he suffered an ankle injury and was replaced by Robert Snodgrass.
Leeds thought they had finally made the break through when Johnson`s shot could only be parried by Sullivan and Somma was on hand to force the ball home. Unfortunately for Leeds the assistants flag was up for offside.
The visitors were looking the more likely winners in the second half and James O`Connor nearly put through his own goal after a cross from Johnson.
Neither side could break the deadlock in an entertaining game that sees both sides end the evening in the play off places.
