Leeds drop more points

Leeds surrended two more points after coming from behind to claim a point against Brentford.

The whites made two changes from the side that drew with Huddersfield last weekend.

Leigh Bromby and Aidan White came in to replace Richard Naylor and Shane Lowry in defence.

Robert Snodgrass almost gave Leeds the lead inside the opening few minutes when his free kick was tipped wide by Szczesny in the Brentford goal.

Leeds started strongly, Becchio tried his luck from range but failed to trouble the Brentford keeper.

Becchio was next to go close but headed wide after a ball into the box by Snodgrass.

Brentford had a great chance to take the lead on the half hour when Wood was through on goal, Ankergren anticipated which way Wood was going and save for Leeds.

Beckford had a great chance to put Leeds in the lead but he cleared the bar with his header after a good ball into the box by Snodgrass.

Leeds were dominating play, Howson was next to chance his arm, his shot was cleared and fell to Snodgrass whose shot went over the bar.

Beckford was next to go close but his shot was blocked by Phillips and went out for a corner.

From the resulting corner, the ball fell to McSheffrey whose shot just cleared the bar.

Leeds had dominated for long periods of the first half but went in at the break all square.

Beckford had Leeds first chance of the second half but his effort was straight at the Brentford keeper.

Leeds were forced into an early change in the second half, Lubomir Michalik replaced Andy Hughes.

Beckford almost opened the scoring, his flick header went across the face of goal with both Becchio and Snodgrass just failing to get on the end of it.

Brentford took the lead against the run of play when Ankergren saved MacDonald`s shot, the ball hit Strevens and went into the back of the net.

Snodgrass had Leeds first chance to get the side back on level terms but his shot went wide of the post.

McSheffrey crossed for Beckford but once again, he failed to hit the target.
Leeds were having no luck in front of goal and O'Connor took the ball of White`s foot as the youngster was about to shoot on goal in a great position.

Leeds finally got back on level terms when a poor clearance fell to Snodgrass and his ball into the middle was tapped in by Beckford.

Brentford had a good chance to retake the lead but MacDonald shot just wide of the target.

Leeds had a great chance to take the lead when Snodgrass was put through but he went wide of the goal.

Leeds made a double substitution trying to find a winner, Bradley Johnson and Paul Dickov replacing Aidan White and Luciano Becchio.

Howson had a great chance to give Leeds the lead inside the final five minutes but his shot was blocked, and put out for a corner.

Michalik went even closer when his shot hit the post and out to safety with Leeds desperately searching for a winner.

The referee added five minutes on at the end of the ninety but Leeds couldn`t find a winner and two more home points have been dropped.

Another disappointing result where we got mugged by a team who took one of their two chances. We had a lot of chances (Becks had at least 5) but didnt put them away. McS was awful again first half but was a canged player second half and supplied the cut back that Becks scored from. The defence was solid (one glitch from a deflection in first half that casper saved well) until Hughes went off (sick) and then we were letting their left winger get behind us. Another gift goal from a corner and a free header that fell kindly for them. I felt the two substitutions late in the game weakened our attacking threat with whites threat gone. Giving their weakness in the air I would have brough Kandol on instead of Dickov who never really got into the game as an attacking force but we cant judg him on 17 mins. Listening to Eddie GRay as we came home I thought he exaggerated our quality and from the calls and texts I wasnt the only one.

I only listened to the game today and it sounded like we created enough chances but rarely threatened the Brentford keeper. Since the turn of the year we just can't keep clean sheets, only two in the league in the last thirteen games and the clubs we are playing are only having two or three chances on goal. I think we have problems at both ends at the moment, sooner or later someone will go past us in the Division, Charlton looked well out of it a few weeks ago yet they are now breathing down our neck. Tranmere enjoyed a great result against Southampton on Saturday so that's not going to be easy on Tuesday night. Just when I thought we had turned the corner!

Time for Beckford to sit on the bench and give someone else a chance alongside Becchio
