Leeds got it all to do in second leg

Leeds have it all to do in the second leg after once again going down to Carlisle United at Elland Road.

Leeds made three changes from the weekend, Jason Crowe, Mike Grella and Jon Howson came in for Patrick Kisnorbo, Luciano Becchio and Mike Doyle.

Former Leeds favourite Ian Harte returned to Elland Road with Carlisle.

Leeds started the game well and Bromby and Beckford both had early chances for the whites.

Kevan Hurst had the visitor`s first chance but Hughes cleared his effort off the line.

Clayton went close for the visitors again soon after, his deflected shot went just wide of the post in a very open first ten minutes.

Carlisle were having a good five minutes and Scott Dobie just failed to get on the end of a Matt Robson cross.

Beckford had Leeds first chance in a while but his shot was straight at Pidgeley after good work from Snodgrass.

Graham Kavanagh gave Carlisle the lead just past twenty minutes when he was given enough time on the edge of the area to rifle past Ankergren.

Leeds came straight back at Carlisle and both Beckford and Grella had good chances in the space of a few minutes.

Beckford wasted a great chance for Leeds when former Leeds junior Tom Taiwo played a poor back pass, Beckford was through on goal but wasted the chance when he tried to chip Pidgeley who stood tall and collected it easily.

Leeds were beginning to lay siege on the Carlisle goal, Johnson went close first when his effort was turned out for a corner.

From the resulting corner, Pidgeley saved Mike Grella`s spectacular overhead kick.

Beckford then went closest but his shot come back off the post.

It looked like being one of those nights when Beckford missed another great chance when being set up by Snodgrass.

Johnson had Leeds last effort of the half but his tame shot was easy for the Carlisle keeper.

Despite dominating for long periods, Leeds went in at half time 1-0 down.

Former Leeds defender Ian Harte had the first chance of the second half for the visitors, but his headed from close range went wide.

Leeds got back on level terms when defender Jason Crowe headed in from a cross from Hughes.

Crowe went close again soon afterwards but his volley went over.

Leeds were now in control and Johnson was next to go close but Pidgeley saved his shot.

Jason Crowe was continuing to be a danger in the Leeds attack and his left foot shot went just wide of the post.

Bradley Johnson again went close but once again, it went just wide of the post.

Carlisle who had been on the back foot for most of the second half went close when Hurst headed wide following a scramble in the area.

Anyinsah went close for the visitors again soon after but his shot took a deflection and wide for a corner.

Carlisle retook the lead inside the final ten minutes when Anyinsah put in Harte`s cross.

Becchio almost equalised in stoppage time but Pidgely made a fantastic save, they now have it all to do in the second leg at Carlisle in February if they are going to reach the final.

Only half time Terrier. Still plenty of time, they do better at ER than they do at home against us.

I was more confident about the away leg than the home leg!
