Leeds travelled to Leyton Orient hoping to keep up their late push for an automatic place.
Rui Marques came in for Sam Sodje who picked up an injury against Colchester and Liam Dickinson replaces Jermaine Beckford up front.
Neil Kilkenny had the first real chance after twelve minutes when his shot was saved by the feet of Jones in the Orient goal.
Leeds took the lead after twenty minutes when after good work from Fabian Delph, Robert Snodgrass coolly curled the ball into the corner of the net.
Ben Parker almost doubled the lead on the half hour but his clever lob went just wide with the keeper well beaten.
Jimmy Smith came closest for the home side when his fierce shot just missed.
Fabian Delph picked up his tenth booking of the season which will now see him serve a two match ban.
Leeds went in 1-0 up at half time after a good first half performance.
A poor clearance by the Orient keeper fell to Delph early in the second half who had more time than what he thought and his shot didn`t trouble the keeper from 25 yards.
Howson came close to doubling Leeds lead but his shot just took a deflection and went wide of the post.
From the resulting corner Becchio`s shot was handled on the line by Demetriou who was immediately sent off and Leeds were awarded a penalty.
Robert Snodgrass sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty to score his and Leeds second of the night on the hour mark.
Sean Thornton got Orient soon back in the game when he beat Ankergren with a free kick which took a deflection to wrong foot the Leeds keeper.
Leeds almost went two clear again when Kilkenny`s shot crashed against the post and Snodgrass was denied by the Orient keeper from the rebound.
Orient equalised when Ankergren could only parry Morgan`s shot and Church was there to tap it in with five minutes remaining.
Four minutes of added time were added on without either side looking like scoring a winner
