LUFC - Leeds make it five in a row

Leeds travelled to Colchester United hoping to close the gap on the teams directly above them.

Leeds stuck with the same side that beat MK Dons last weekend.

Beckford had an early chance for Leeds but was thwarted by the Colchester keeper Cousins.

Leeds keeper Ankergren was also involved early on when saving well from Karl Hawley.

Becchio headed narrowly wide after a corner from Snodgrass.

Yeates then had the best chance of the game so far for Colchester, once again Ankergren was equal to it and pushed the ball away for a corner.

Leeds took the lead on the half hour when Luciano Becchio made space for himself and gave the Colchester keeper no chance with his shot.

Becchio had a chance to increase the lead but his header went over the bar.

Beckford had a chance to give Leeds a two goal advantage on the stroke of half time but Cousins in the Colchester goal kept them in it.

A very quite second half with very little goal mouth action, Leeds did have the goal in the net again but the offside flag had been raised.

Colchester`s first serious attempt of the half came with less than fifteen minutes on the clock, Ankergren saved easily from a Yeates effort.

Four minutes of added time were added, Beckford had the only chance during this time on the stroke of full time.

Leeds make it five wins in a row but with time running out it looks like they are going to have to settle for a place in the play offs.

Another win and another clean sheet, I think we now have to look at it realistically, we are going to be in the play offs.
