LUFC - Leeds poor away form continues

Leeds made the short trip to Huddersfield for today`s lunch time kick off.

Luciano Becchio replaced Jermaine Beckford in the starting line up who starts his three match suspension.

Mike Grella makes his first appearance in the squad, starting on the substitute`s bench.

Robert Snodgrass had Leeds first proper chance on the quarter hour but his weak shot was straight at the keeper.
Leeds soon paid for the miss when Nathan Clarke rose to head Huddersfield into the lead.

United tried to get back into the game and Smithies in the Town goal made two great saves in the space of a few minutes from Robinson and Marques.

Jutkiewicz had a great chance from a corner just before half time but his shot was blocked and went out for another corner.

Huddersfield finished the half strongly and Leeds would have been relieved to hear the half time whistle only one down.

Leeds started the second half the better, Becchio had an early shout for a penalty waved away.
Becchio was substituted soon after and was replaced by Howson, just short of the hour he could have got Leeds level but his header went just wide.

Robinson then had a chance for Leeds but his header was well saved by Smithies.

Leeds introduced young American striker Mike Grella hoping to find an equaliser in the last fifteen minutes.

Smithies then made another great save with fifteen minutes remaining when saving from Snodgrass.

With only a few minutes left on the clock Leeds day in front of goal was summed up when captain Richard Naylor hit the post with a header.

With Leeds chasing the game deep in injury time both Jevons and Collins had chances to wrap the game up for the home side.

Leeds dominated the second half but couldn`t beat the impressive Smithies in the Huddersfield goal.

Another pointless return from an away trip and unless it`s sorted quickly Leeds can kiss goodbye any chance of reaching the play offs.

Once again another loss away from home, we have no chance of making the play offs on home form alone!

Its happened too often this season to be bad luck and all this' we had more attenpts' etc is all missing the point. We still cant defend free kicks and corners. Our goalkeeper is poor, the second choice is even worse and until we solve that we will keep on doing this. We have seen loads of ereally good young keepers this season but we send our out on loan where he is getting rave reviews...maybe i am missing the point somewhere.

Got to be honest erni ours keeps us in it week in week out..You need a keeper,we need a striker...!
