LUFC - Leeds still suffer travel sickness

Leeds miserable form on the road continued with a 2-1 defeat at Tranmere after taking an early lead.

After the embarrassment of the cup defeat at Histon, McAllister made changes to the side.
Enoch Showunmi, Jonathan Howson and Paul Telfer came back into the side.

Leeds took an early lead when Showunmi scored a good goal when he managed to hook the ball in when he had his back to goal.

Soon after Tranmere were level when David Lucas did his best superman impression when rushing out of his goal allowing Anthony Kay a simple header into an unguarded net.
Leeds could have taken the lead again soon after when Becchio had a chance but his effort was saved by the Tranmere keeper.

Leeds had another good effort just before half time when Snodgrass shot just wide from distance.

In a poor first half the sides went in level.

Tranmere scored the crucial winning goal within the first five minutes of the restart, nobody closed down ex Leeds man Ian Moore and his long range effort gave Lucas no chance in the Leeds goal.

Leeds were quickly back on the front foot and had efforts from Howson and Sheehan worrying the Tranmere defence.
Leeds then thought they had equalised when Becchio got up to head into the goal only for the referee to rule out the effort for a foul.

The Whites continued to pressurise the Tranmere goal with Becchio, Prutton and Douglas all having good chances.
Becchio then thought he`d gained Leeds a penalty when his shot was charged down with what he thought was a Tranmere hand but the referee waved away the appeals.

A third defeat for Leeds in just over a week sees the Whites sitting just outside the play off spot`s.
What`s more worrying for Leeds is their incapability to produce results away from home and they have now lost five of their last six in the League.

Ken Bates gave Gary McAllister his backing last week after the embarrassment at Histon but unless Leeds can quickly return to the form that took them into the automatic promotion places then the pressure will surely grow on the Leeds gaffer.
