LUFC - Leeds hit five
Leeds vital forum member Tiny T gives us his match report from Saturday`s win against Crewe.
Very slow with little between the two sides at the start of the game, though Leeds did pass the ball the better of the two sides.
Leeds opened the scoring with a strike by young Fabien Delph, the ball going in off the post from 25yards.
Soon after; Alan Sheehan made it two with another strike from distance, this time grazing the underside of the bar.
Leeds started to look comfortable and took the lead to half time.
Better from Leeds who took a firm hold of the game with Douglas adding the third again at the start of the second half with another strike from outside the box.
Crewe looked a poor side and their fans; the few that travelled; were seen to be doing a Conga for their entertainment.
Leeds added the fourth with a quick free kick on the left crossed by Robinson for Beckford to power home a header, the only goal of the game scored from within the box.
Robinson added the fifth soon after coming on as a substitute, curling the ball home.
Leeds continued to dominate, with three minutes time added on the supporters were baying for six.
I jokingly said "time for two more"
Then Lubomir Michalik got sent off for a second bookable offence, seemed rather unnecessary with Leeds five up.
The resulting free kick saw Crewe score what looked like a consolation goal from Zola. Straight from the kick off a deflected shot saw Crewe gain a little bit of respectability they did not deserve.
Next time I'll just keep my mouth closed.
At fault for first goal, could see it all the way but never seemed to move. Doesn't fill me with confidence at all would rather have Ankergren. Anyway how can the Division One Keeper of the year be a bench warmer.
Revelling as Captain another solid performance.
Dodgy under the high ball hardly won one all afternoon, two stupid errors and he gets himself sent off.
Not composed enough for the old head in the side, but we are tending to muddle with the centre of defence too much; would rather see Rui.
As with Fraser solid and a stunning strike.
Weak link in the middle yet again, wants the ball but does nothing with it. Always sidewards or backwards; reminds me of Ray Wilkins.
Another with a stunning strike. We were trying to offload him two weeks ago, again Prutts is the better option.
Star of the show in the middle; all that was good came from him and his first goal from range was great.
Did he really play, odd burst but usually anonymous.
Superb header for his eighth goal of the season, good link play with Becchio.
Becchiio 8 Star Man
Tireless worker up front; creates space and chances for everyone. When subbed Beckford ran half the length of the field to shake his hand, says it all.
Missed with a header late on, improved the midfield.
Gave us width, crossed for Beckford`s goal, curled one in and also hit the bar.
Lively and caused problems.
Good win, but boring for long spells, the goals were all top draw, but defensively in the middle woeful at times, need a regular central defensive pairing. Midfield needs the width supplied by Robinson and Fraser from Right Back, too many passes without actually going anywhere at times.
Much better performance Macca
