He gambled on a pot of gold from a smoke-stack town propelling him to the PL and finished up with a hand full of duds and the sack.

I'm sure he is not close to being skint and will get another chance at management soon.

Ironically, they win today and that could be the last game for the Wednesday boss.

Yes they did win today but is it a coincidence it's after 23 games so exactly half way through the season. Backed with money and high expectations so was part of the deal that if not at least in top 6 by half season then bye bye.
He hasn't exactly proved himself so far in his short management career so maybe he'll land a job in the lower divisions so he can gain more experience and see if he can achieve something.

His mate Pep Clotet might also be in trouble after they lost 7-0 at home.

Just like Grayson at Sunderland he will leave with a fat paycheque in his pocket and a fat cigar and big smile in his mouth. Wonder what a member of the ground-staff would get for six months of underachievement. Steve Gibson has a good record of backing managers so he relly must have blotted his copybook

To be fair with the sauad they have they should be challenging for automatic.

I am not saying should get it but she be in the top 6 most of the season with a good chance of top two and they have been nowhere near that.

He has not done terribly but he has not been good enough with that squad IMO.

Hard to feel sorry for him really. I liked him as a manager at Leeds and would have been happy for him to stay but always that niggling feeling that he was tactfully naive and that has proven to be his downfall in terms of the move to Boro his team tacticts and his transfer dealings. Pep needs a good coach in Oxford

Monk did well at Leeds and he left for obvious reasons.
Strange that Monk was sacked after a game where they beat a team that sacked their manager after they sacked him.

Only previous time two managers have gone after a game was Sheff Utd v Wigan on the final day of the season. Wigan sacked Jewell and United sacked Colin a few days later.

Rumour mill says Gibson has already sounded out Tony Pulis who wanted quick decision. Interesting to see if this develops.
