Staunton set to assist McAllister

Gary McAllister is poised to announce his assistant at Leeds, and this man is expected to be Steve Staunton.

Staunton had been the Republic of Ireland boss from 2006 until the end of the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, but was sacked after Ireland failed to qualify. However McAllister seems set to name Staunton, who worked under McAllister at Coventry as his assistant after he joined Leeds for training today.

If he does link up with McAllister, as expected, this would be until the end of the season for the time being.
