Robson denies Speed rumours

Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson has said that Leeds haven't approached the club for Gary Speed, with a view to him joining the backroom staff at Elland Road.

Some reports had linked former Leeds star Speed with a return to the club to work alongside newly appointed boss, and former team mate Gary McAllister but Robson, who has only recently signed Speed from Bolton, has been swift to deny this, he told the Yorkshire Post: "That is a total non-starter as far as I'm concerned.

"He is doing a really good job with us, no one has approached me."

Former Bolton boss Sammy Lee, who was sacked in October is also being touted for the position as McAllister's number two.

He might not be as quick around the pitch, but would be an ideal number 2 for us.

Sammy Lee must be worth a try, a good 2nd in command - hopeless as No1.
