McAllister Speaks On New Job

New Leeds United boss Gary McAllister has been talking to the official club website about his new job, only his second in football management.

McAllister returned to Elland Road on Tuesday having agreed to take control of first team affairs until at least the end of the season, with a contract extension likely should Leeds gain promotion to the Championship this year. The former Whites captain was somewhat surprised at being approached by Ken Bates following the bizarre departure of former boss Dennis Wise.

Speaking to the official website, leedsunited.com McAllister said:

'When I was first approached I couldn't quite believe it.'

'It's a great honour to be back at the club and I can't wait to get in and amongst it.

'The job brief is promotion,' he said. 'I'm here until June initially and quite simply my job is to come here and kick-start it.'

McAllister’s move was signed and sealed in the more exotic location of Monte Carlo, and the ex Coventry City boss will take up the reigns in time for Leeds’ next home fixture, as Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
