Leeds set to sign Showunmi

Is has been confirmed on leedsunited.com that Enoch Showunmi will be signing for Leeds from Bristol City.

Personal terms have been agreed with the 25 year old Nigerian international so his switch from the Championship high flyers to Elland road will be completed shortly and he will add competition to Jermaine Beckford, Tore Andre Flo and Tresor Kandol, along with Leon Constantine, who is currently injured.

In an ironic twist of fate the striker could make his debut against his first professional club Luton on Saturday, the club that brought him into the professional game at the age of 21, so he was a late starter to the professional ranks.

Showunmi, born in Kilburn, London has already achieved three promotions since his Football League debut in September 2003. After winning back-to-back promotions with his first club Luton Town, the player made a key contribution during Bristol City's rise to the Championship last season.

Bristol City striker Enoch Showunmi will not be joining Leeds United. The club had agreed terms with the Championship club, but the player has indicated he wants to stay at Ashton Gate and fight for his place in the team. The player, who will be out of contract at the end of the season, would be able to move to another club on a free transfer in the summer.
