'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ken Bates' points fight goes on

Ken Bates has revealed that his fight against the 15 points that were deducted before the season began will now see Leeds sue the Football League.

The 15 points were deducted before a ball was kicked, with the Football League viewing the Leeds situation as a failure to follow insolvency policy. After a meeting with the other 71 clubs this penalty was upheld.

But the fight will go on with Bates now revealing that the club will be suing the Football League. In his programme notes for the match with Doncaster on Saturday he wrote: "Leeds United have decided to sue the Football League direct. The more our legal team have dug into the matter, the shambolic administration of both the FA and the FL makes it essential that our grievance is aired before a truly independent body, namely the High Court.

"If the writ hasn't been issued and served by the time you read this, it will be done early next week, and we will be seeing an urgent and early hearing.

"It is a tenet of English law that justice must not only be done, it must be seen to be done. Clearly that is not the case."

Bates is a proud man, some might say stubborn, and doesn't give up a fight easily, but you can't help but think (well I can't) that perhaps as wrong a hand as it may be felt Leeds were dealt it could be time to let this issue go?

There's an old saying of 'let sleeping dogs lie' I think it applies here with the FA....
