Leeds United Thugs Sentenced

Leeds United Thugs Sentenced

The mindless thugs that were involved in the attack of eight disabled Ipswich Town supporters have been sentenced at Leeds Crown Court.

The incident happened towards the end of Leeds’ 1-1 Championship draw with Ipswich Town, not enough to give the Elland Road club much confidence of league survival and as the final minutes were being played out, a pitch invasion started.

A number of Leeds fans made their way towards the away fans, and the disabled section was showered with a number of objects, leading to cuts and bruises. All 11 men and 2 youths pleaded guilty, it was commented during the case that they by handing themselves in, they had shown some remorse for their actions, that were highlighted in local press and television shows.

However, there was no doubt that these idiots should be punished for their atrocious actions, and punished they were. The common theme amongst all 13 was that they were all handed Football Banning Orders totalling 45 years meaning that they must stay away from Leeds United’s home and away fixtures for fixed periods before and after official matches. The judge had added that this was to prevent further violence, rather than as a punishment.

A number of the men received custodial sentences as they pleaded guilty to affray, with some suspended and a number of community work orders handed out.

A fair outcome to such a shameful event? I would be interested to hear from Ipswich Town fans as well as our own Leeds faithful to see what their opinions on the matter are!
