Leeds Rejection Warnock’s Fault?

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has today claimed that Shaun Derry did not reject a chance to return to Elland Road.

Yesterday, Leeds assistant boss Dave Bassett told of how Derry’s refusal to return to the club left a ‘sour taste’ with manager Dennis Wise, who is now struggling to fill the midfield roles due to injury and suspension. (‘Wise Unhappy With Derry Rejection.’ Click Here)

However it now appears that Neil Warnock was either the one to blame for the rejection, or is now trying to look after a player who’s Elland Road career now looks set to be over.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post ex-Sheffield United boss Warnock said: "Dennis asked me on New Year's Eve for permission to let Shaun go back to Leeds before January 19, but I refused because I have to look after the interests of my own club."

"The loan deal runs until January 19 and I have told Shaun 'I am sorry, but I cannot let you go back before then'. We need him here.

"Shaun knows he is a Leeds United player, but the decision was not his to make. It was mine as the manager of Crystal Palace."

Surely if he's our player we are well within our rights to call him back?
