Derry Says No to Leeds Return

Shaun Derry`s Leeds United career looks well and truly over as he rejects the chance to return to Elland Road.

With injuries to Jonathan`s Howson and Douglas, coupled with a one-game suspension for captain Alan Thompson, Leeds United boss Dennis Wise contacted Crystal Palace with the view to recalling Derry to the Leeds squad.

Wise has in the past admitted that Derry was unlikely to feature in a Leeds shirt this season, however didn`t fully rule it out providing he could prove his fitness. The 30-year old has done just that in the Championship, a division above Leeds and now seems to want to stay on at Palace, rather than help out the club he`s contracted to.

Dennis Wise will now likely make moves in the January transfer window for a central midfielder, signalling the absolute end to Shaun Derry`s Leeds United career.

It was made plain to Derry he was not wanted (no recall placed in his loan either )when sent to Palace by Wise. He is playing regular Championship football would you want to play Div 3 football. Dont think so. I would have kept him and let Sicknote Thompson go.
