Ex-England international Steve Stone has been told more than once this season that he could have kicked his last bal in anger. But he hangs onto the hope he can make a comeback for Leeds before the end of the season, despite undergoing an operation on his Achilles injury.
The 34-year-old ruptured his Achilles during pre-season training, shortly after his transfer on a free transfer from Portsmouth.
The third operation is his final hope of a cure for the injury, and the player is already showing clear signs of progress.
