Leeds United Bounce Back

Two goals from Tresor Kandol and slick passing move finished off by Seb Carole were enough to see off Bournemouth, as Leeds United returned to winning ways.

Leeds were left reeling as they fell to a late 3-1 defeat at the hands of Carlisle in Cumbria on Saturday with boss Dennis Wise calling for an instant response. With struggling Bournemouth the next fixture, it proved a perfect opportunity for the Leeds United squad to show that the defeat, their first in the league this season was nothing more than a minor blip on the way to promotion glory.

Within just 4 minutes Tresor Kandol had slipped by the Cherries defence only to be thwarted at first by goalkeeper Neil Moss, only for the ball to fall kindly to Kandol to finish from a few yards out.

Jem Karacan restored parity on 37 minutes as his drilled shot flew past Ankergren to make it 1-1. Just reward for a Bournemouth side that before the half time whistle had been very much in the ascendancy, with Casper Ankergren heeding the calls of my match preview and keeping it ugly, thwarting striker Kuffour on a number of occasions.

It was however to be Leeds’ night as Seb Carole played a neat one-two with Jermaine Beckford before curling a shot past the despairing keeper. Kandol was to add a second, and Leeds’ third goal of the night on 87 minutes however not before Red-Card-Crazy referee Steve Bennet took centre stage, as all good match officials have seemingly been trained to do so.

Lee Bradbury was dismissed in the 63rd minute for swinging an arm at Matt Heath, who was left lying on the turf. In a bizarre turn of events however, it was Heath’s foul that had created the incident therefore Bournemouth were relieved of a player, yet had still managed to win a free kick despite the dismissal!

Leeds United boss Dennis Wise was naturally delighted with the way that his side had responded to the first defeat of the season, despite what has been widely reported as some fairly unattractive football.

Speaking to Leedsunited.com: 'I wanted a response from the players and I'm delighted with the result,'.

'Our next league game is against Swindon, that's a while away, and after Carlisle it was important that we won straight away.'
