Leeds and the 15 Point Penalty

Leeds and the 15 Point Penalty

Vital Leeds user Yorkshirepride1 has done a bit of research, and called himself statto by comparing our points tally with current Football League and Premier League standings. See how you like it!

The findings are actually quite interesting, as it appears that had we applied our start to any other English league we’d probably be in 7th place anyway! It is applying the 15 point penalty to other 7th placed teams that makes very interesting reading. So here goes:

Our Situation
Leeds United: 7th place with 20 points, without the 15 point deduction we would be top with 35, 11 points clear of the

When applied to the Premiership:
The 7th placed team is Portsmouth with 19 points, deduct 15 and that puts them bottom with 4 points!

When applied to Championship
The 7th placed team is Plymouth with 20 points, deduct 15 and that puts them bottom with 5 points!

When applied to League One
Forgetting ourselves, Brighton are level with us on 20 points, deduct 15 and that funnily enough puts them bottom with 5 points!

When applied to League Two
The 7th placed team is Peterborough with 22 points, deduct 15 and surprise surprise, that puts them bottom with 7 points!

So as you can see Football League, Football Association, your attempts to stifle Leeds United have failed, as we are marching on together, back towards the promised land of the Premiership!

Three Cheers goes out to Yorkshirepride1 for his great bit of work!
