Leeds United Striker Happy To Help

On-Loan striker Mark De Vries was very happy to be able to make a difference, as his late goal saw Leeds pick up all three points against Yeovil.

The big man from Leicester was signed on a one month deal to act as cover following the dismissal of both Jermaine Beckford and Tresor Kandol in what can only be described as bizarre circumstances during the 1-1 draw with Gillingham. Whilst not expected to have much of a starting role, De Vries came on to knock in a fine looping header in the 89th minute to make it 9 wins out of 10 for Dennis Wises’ squad.

Speaking to the official website, a very honest De Vries said: “The gaffer got me on to see what happens and I had some luck,”

“It saved me a bit because my first few touches looked bad. I saw it coming and got my head to it, and it went where I wanted it”

Moving on to talk about Leeds’ uncanny ability to win games late he added:
“We're hard to beat and score very important goals in the last few minutes.

“We scored a goal in the 94th minute at Oldham, and it's great to be a part of it.”
