Striker Duo Join Leeds United

Dennis Wise has moved quickly to cover for the one-game suspension of strike duo Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford by picking up Wayne Andrews and Mark De Vries on a one month loan.

Kandol and Beckford will both miss Leeds’ Tuesday evening fixture with Oldham Athletic as a result of the sendings off against Gillingham, we thank Mr McDermit for that one. With Leon Constantine and Tore-Andre Flo still missing out through injury, Wise needed to bring in experienced cover, or face risking young forward Tomi Ameobi.

The replacements come in the form of Wayne Andrews and Mark De Vries from Coventry City and Leicester City respectively. Whilst neither have particularly done well for their Championship sides, though as a short-term loan move this can only be seen as ideal, with Andrews having a good record at this kind of level, and De Vries notching up 29 goals in 62 starts for Scottish Premier League side Hearts.

Looking at De Vries' record, combined with Flo's ability to get injured. Perhaps it'd be an interesting thought to keep hold of the Dutchman?
