'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Vital Leeds United Sunday Review

Well here we are again and another eventful weeks past in the good ship Leeds United captained by Birdseye.

Sunday
Leeds are reflecting on the best start to a season for 23 years after the hard fought 1-0 win against Luton on Saturday.
Wise is reflecting on the bust up between himself, Blackwell and Carver at the final whistle, Wise admits that heads came together and that a lot of ill feelings and sour grapes came from the direction of former Leeds pair.

Monday
Alan Thompson is struggling for the next match against Hartlepool after coming off on Saturday with a groin strain. Leeds are still awaiting international clearance for new signing Filipe Da Costa. The Portuguese midfielder is in a contractual dispute with his former club Ionokis and FIFA have been brought in to sort out the matter. Leeds are being linked with Sunderland duo Graham Kavanagh and Roy O'Donovan. Kavanagh is a very experienced midfielder whilst O'Donovan is a very promising youngster who joined in the summer from Ireland commanding a fee of around half a million.

Tuesday
Leeds are facing a midfield dilemma ahead of Saturdays clash with Hartlepool. Jonathon Douglas is on international duty and Thompson, Weston and Westlake are struggling with injuries.

On a very sad note Local lady and national treasure Jane Tomlinson finally loses her fight against cancer. Jane as become known around the world for her courageous personal achievements and charity work during her seven year battle. Jane managed to raise almost two million pounds and its great to see Leeds United are quick to react by announcing a minute’s applause will be observed during Saturday’s game.

Wednesday
Macclesfield PC Mike Senior informs Leeds United about the fantastic behaviour of our fans during the recent Carling Cup tie. Stewards and fans of Macclesfield couldn't praise us enough and said we was some of the best and most polite fans they have ever had visit them.

Jermaine Beckford is pipped for the League One player of the month award by Luton's Paul Furlong. I am sure if Leeds keep performing like they are a few players will surely pick up a few awards by the end of the season.

Thursday
More sad news reaches the club with ex Leeds player Byron Stevenson passing away at the age of 50. Byron was at the club from 1973-1982 and made 110 appearances during that time.
More rumours surface about Graham Kavanagh and that we are hoping to get him on a season long loan.

Friday
Reports in the paper are that the Football Association have not transferred full membership to Leeds United. They have stated that they are not entirely satisfied that we have sorted out payments to all non-football related creditors. This doesn't really affect the Leeds team and we will still be able to participate in the FA Cup.

Ipswich Town are still harping on about the pitch invasion at the end of last season. They still want action to be taken against Leeds because they feel nothing as been done to properly punish the club for failing to control their fans. Surely after what we have been through you would think they would let all us fans who do behave ourselves be allowed to look to the future and not face further punishments.

Saturday
Leeds are drawn away against Darlington in the second Round of the Johnstone’s Paints Trophy. It could be a good chance for a few of the youngsters to get a first team chance and we only require four wins to reach Wembley.

Leeds entertained Hartlepool in front of another bumper League One crowd at Elland Road. Goals from Kandol and a sublime chip from Beckford confirm a fifth straight league win.

We now have the 15 point penalty cleared after five games which was beyond all our wildest dreams. The hard work starts now and with three of the next four games being away we still have lots of hard work ahead of us.

Keep the faith
MARCHING ON TOGETHER
