'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ex-Leeds Keeper in the Spotlight

Paul Robinson has found himself the centre of attention following England`s 2-1 friendly defeat at the hands of Germany last night.

Unfortunately for Robbo however, it is for all the wrong reasons as the ex Leeds United goalkeeper has taken the brunt of the blame for what was a poor team performance.

Robinson's error, failing to deal with a cross from Bernd Schneider allowed Kevin Kuranyi to tap home from close range to cancel out Frank Lampard's opener.

Following the error Robbo never seemed to look comfortable, the England regular being replaced at half time by David James, someone who is all too familiar with the fall-out after making high profile mistakes.

It was however James who offered the greatest support for his England team-mate: 'It was a difficult cross for a keeper. Hopefully he will not get too much criticism.'

Too late David, he already has become a scapegoat, allowing Steve McClaren to continue to get away with baffling tactics and a team selection that left a lot to be desired.

Terrible display by most of the England players..With the exceptions of Micah,Wright Phillips and Cole...

I didn't see the game, I have just heard them on the radio getting at Robinson. That certainly isn't going to help his confidence. I think David James would be a backwards step. If we are going to replace Robinson we should be looking at Green, Kirkland and Foster when he's fit.

Green? Good grief, over-rated goalkeeper in the Kirkland mould.
