Police Issue Leeds V Forest Warning

West Yorkshire Police have issued a statement regarding the upcoming fixture between two of the League One heavyweights.

Leeds are set to face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground this Saturday, the 25th August and all tickets for the away sections of the stadium were available via application direct to Forest themselves. The deadline for applications has now passed and means that regardless of allocation, no more tickets can be purchased by Leeds United supporters.

The statement, issued on the West Yorkshire Police website, in full, reads:

Leeds United fans are being asked not to travel to the match at Nottingham Forest unless they already have tickets.

All tickets available to Leeds United fans had to be obtained by application from Nottingham Forest and the closing date for applications has now passed.

As a result it is now impossible for Leeds United fans to obtain a ticket for the match.

Those fans with tickets must have their membership number written on the ticket and also arrive with their membership cards and corresponding membership number.

Any Leeds United fans who are considering buying tickets for the Nottingham Forest home stands will be refused.

Added to that if police spot any Leeds United fans in Nottingham Forest areas they will be ejected from the ground.

Chief Inspector Mark Holland from Nottinghamshire Police said: "Any Leeds United fans who have not got a ticket should simply not travel to the match.

There will be a heavy police presence to allow those ticketed fans to travel to a from the ground in a safe and pleasant environment and to enjoy the match

Police officers will take an inference that if a fan travels without a ticket they will be here to cause trouble."

The match between Nottingham Forest and Leeds United at the City Ground kicks off at 1pm on Saturday August 25.

All pubs and bars within in the vicinity of the ground and towards Nottingham city centre will be closed.
