Leeds hand contracts to trio

Matt Heath, Leon Constantine and Curtis Weston have all signed two-year deals with Leeds as the squad takes places ahead of the season's opening fixture against Tranmere.

The announcement that 25-year-old Heath will be staying at Elland Road ends a period of uncertainly for the player. He originally joined Leeds on loan in November, returned to Coventry only to be transferred back to Leeds on a free the next day in January, before being released at the end of the season.

Heath's height and physical presence at the back may make all the difference during the upcoming season as Leeds adjust to League One. Boss Dennis Wise's comments about the club needed 105 points for promotion may be less than realistic, but it's clear that the defence will have to be on form to meet the club's first target - survival.

Midfielder Curtis Weston will be happy after stating his desire to stay at Elland Road and help Leeds navigate their way out of the current turmoil just last week.

The 20-year-old former Swindon man had been on trial and had he hoped to use the pre-season games to earn a contract, and that is exactly what has happened.

Striker Constantine, 29, had been linked with a number of Championship sides during the summer and the ness that he has agreed a new deal is encouraging. He paid his own expenses to be with Leeds during the pre-season and could be a key player for the club once he recovers from an ankle injury.

Yesterday, former keeper Casper Ankergren became the first signing since the return of the Football League share - and at least now things are starting to move in the right direction...

Don't Know How You Can Say Weston Is A Great Signing.....He Didn't Make The Grade At Swindon......Constantine However Could Be A Good Acquisition.....But I'm Suprised That He's Signed for you With Regard To All Your Problems etc......!

I think they will all give us something. Weston is still young and will benefit from working with more experienced players. Constantine and Heath are both experienced especially Constantine who as got a proven record at this level.

Curtis never had a cham=nce at swindon, due to the unfair tratment he had of the manager.
