Bye to Cress, Bye for Leeds!
With everything that is going on in and around Elland Road at the moment it's probably worth scraping the barrel to find some positive news regarding Leeds United.
So, without further ado, the club this afternoon announced the news that every fan across the world was waiting for - Leeds have been handed a bye in the first round Johnstone's Paint Trophy! Oh, okay, not the most exciting thing to have ever happened, then...
In more serious news, 29-year-old striker Richard Cresswell has completed his move to Stoke today - just days after his move to Hull City apparently collapsed. No fee has been announced, though it is rumoured to be as low as £300,000 - a bad return on a player who cost £1million when he joined from Preston North End two years ago.
While it would have been nice to have kept hold of the player for the League One campaign, if only because every player helps in the current situation, it's worth remembering that he picked-up many injuries during his time at Elland Road and managed just 11 goals in 44 appearances.
What will happen with that £300,000 is anybody's guess, as is the future of the club. But assuming all goes well, and that is all we Leeds fans can assume at the moment, the season kicks off next weekend and the players will be doing whatever they can on the pitch to help the club.
And Leeds are one step closer to winning a trophy - without even kicking a ball!
