Leeds United Players Not Paid

Following a number of press rumours circulating, Leeds United confirmed on Friday that those players still contracted to the club had not been paid during the entire month of June. A statement on the clubs official website reads:

"It is disappointing that the players have not as yet been paid, however they have not been paid in accordance with the agreements they entered into with the administrators.

The players have been paid for May with funds provided by Leeds United 2007 Ltd under the terms of those deferrals and June's wages are due to be paid when the Football League/Football Association return the shares."

Meanwhile, the PFA (Professional Footballers' Association) aren`t particularly accepting the noises coming from Elland Road, and believe it is now up to Leeds United 2007 Ltd to pay the players, who had willingly deferred their May wages. PFA Representative Mick McGuire said: 'It's an absolute mess.'

'It needs to be resolved urgently because the players are reaching the end of their tethers."

It does however seem somewhat odd that the club have sought to point out that the players, despite the current pressure from the PFA will be paid just as soon as the Football League return the golden ticket into league football. In my opinion there appears to be one huge game of hot potato going on at the moment, and there`s no prizes for guessing who started it.
