Beckford Set To Stay At Leeds?

Jermaine Beckford does not appear to be in any particular hurry to leave Leeds United, having been named in Dennis Wise's 20-man pre-season tour squad that departs for Germany on Tuesday.

Beckford spent the second half of the season on loan at Scunthorpe, chipping in with 8 goals for The Irons as they fired their way into the Championship as the eventual league winners. It was anticipated that the former Wealdstone forward would be leaving Leeds to re-join Scunthorpe this summer, yet has popped up at Leeds a number of times, seemingly in the plans of the Leeds management.

Speaking to the official website, boss Dennis Wise said of Beckford: "Jermaine is like a breath of fresh air, He looks alive and looks alert."

Holding onto a player that managed 8 goals since January in League One would surely be seen as a major coup for Leeds having lost a large number of players following the clubs administration, and subsequent relegation to the third tier of English football for the first time in their history.

makes sense - if he can score goals why be in a hurry to offload him?
Dales_Dad
agreed dales he is a proven player in league one and definately a player to keep hold of
Super-Leeds
It was a case of whether he wanted to go or not. Anyone who has expressed a desire to leave has erm, well left!
LUFC1
If he has any sense he should leave now!
SweetLeftFoot
Silence manc...we're fine.
LUFC1
i thinkhe may well stay wise has probably had talks with him
Super-Leeds
Why would any young footballer with a ounce of talent stay and work under a manager with no idea of how good football is played.Dennis "if it moves, kick it" Wise.
SweetLeftFoot
We need to keep Beckford he is a striker that will score goals at this level. The fans need to give him some support. The expectation last season just destroyed him in a Leeds shirt. Give him a chance and not let him go to the likes of S ****horpe
WellyG
Good player at this level and thats all that is necessary!
horseworrier
he will play well along side the strikers we still have
Super-Leeds
Hang on...if it moves...kick it. The football moves, he kicks it towards goal..he scores. Jobs a goodun!
LUFC1
Stay put Beckford..You may be the chosen ONE!!Here's hoping you are...

He scored some cracking goals for Scunny last season whilst on loan, so lets hope he stays and can do the same again.
