Bates Looks To Leeds United Future

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates is now looking forward to the future at Leeds United following the announcement that administrators KPMG have chosen the 'New Leeds,' a consortium fronted by Bates himself as the preferred bidder for the club.

Following objection to the Company Voluntary Agreement from HM Customs & Revenue, KPMG decided to put the club back up for sale, outside of the agreement which was originally won by the New Leeds company. Speaking to the clubs official website on the eve of the purchase of Leeds United for an undisclosed fee, Bates was clearly delighted at the decision: 'I'm very pleased. It's been a long haul, but we've got the club, where it should be, and we can now draw a line under the past.'

The next objective now is for the club to regain its share in the Football League. The League are meeting on Thursday, and the club has submitted its application for the transfer of the share."

It is now up to the administrators to sort out the HMRC court hearing, which is set for the 3rd of September and Bates is now only concerned in getting the squad together and ready for League One Football. The start of League One is dependant on The Football League agreeing to allow the club to start the season following the entry into administration at the end of The Championship relegation year.
