'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'They Kept Coming Back At Us!'

Wigan captain Arjan de Zeeuw was full of praise for Leeds and therefore all the more satisfied with the performance which sneaked Wigan into a fourth-round meeting away to Manchester City.

'They kept coming back. Credit to them - they made it a real battle for us,' said the centre-half.

'They are a good side playing well in the Championship. We knew we were in for a battle - but we have a lot of character in the team.

'To go through in a game like this away from home makes us very proud.'

Two goals from Jason Roberts helped Wigan to scrape through - and he is hoping he has a few more to come in what is his favourite competition.

'I do seem to score in the FA Cup, so I hope it bodes well for the next round,' he told Sky Sports.

'We were a little bit tired tonight but kept going.'
