Premier League Clubs Shamed

5 Premier League clubs dealing with 17 player transfers have been named and shamed following the publication of Lord Steven`s enquiries into transfer irregularity. Following claims made by BBC`s Panorama program, an investigation was launched to determine just who was involved and in what context.

Two of the biggest names mentioned were former Newcastle boss Graeme Souness and the current Magpies manager Sam Allardyce; Souness linked to 'inconsistencies in evidence' provided by himself and Ken Sheppard, son of 'Fat` Freddie Sheppard. Meanwhile, Allardyce, who only recently has used club funds to pay the £300k bonus demanded by Joey Barton on departure from Manchester City turned up in the report due to a "conflict of interest" during his time at Bolton when dealing with a players agent who funnily enough is called Craig Allardyce.

The clubs, and transfers that were deemed to have breached transfer regulations are as follows:

Bolton: Ali Al-Habsi, Tal Ben Haim, Blessing Kaku, Julio Correia

Chelsea: Didier Drogba, Petr Cech, Michael Essien

Middlesbrough: Aiyegbeni Yakubu, Fabio Rochemback

Newcastle: Emre Belozoglu, Jean Alain Boumsong, Amady Faye, Albert Luque

Portsmouth: Collins Mbesuma, Benjani Mwaruwari, Aliou Cisse

In a statement, Lord Stevens said: 'Many lessons have been learned and strict adherence to and enforcement of the recommendations should ensure that the game and the transfer market can proceed in an untainted and transparent manner.'

The details of the investigation will now be passed on by the Premier League to the Football Association and Fifa.
