No Bid From Sheff.Utd Ex-Boss

Former Sheffield United chairman Mike McDonald has played down reports that he is tabling a bid to takeover Leeds United according to the BBC.

McDonald has met Ken Bates but does not want to takeover completely and has no interest in becoming chairman. McDonald said: 'I said if there was a consortium someone wanted me to join I'd consider it.

'But I didn't want to be on the board or chairman.'

However our great saviour Ken Bates, obviously doing the best for the club has told McDonald to go away and prove the funds. Good on you Ken, I'm sure these people wouldn't be bidding if they didn't have the money.

Rumours that McDonald was in talks with an Irish consortium linked to former Newcastle boss Graham Souness have been denied by the man himself:

I don't know where these stories come from,' he said.

'I have not spoken to Graeme Souness since all the problems Sheffield United had with Benfica over Brian Deane.

'If someone said, 'would you invest in Leeds?', I would be interested if I thought it was a good deal.'

Good deal or bad deal? I'd rather Bates didn't remain at the club for much longer.
