Nicholls' May Have Way Out

Just to prove how quickly football moves, want-away midfielder Kevin Nicholls may have a lifeline in the shape of previous Leeds United boss, Kevin Blackwell. As reported previously, Blackwell has been named successor to Mike Newell at Luton.

From the outside the situation at Kenilworth Road looks mysterious at best. Surely no club would want to sanction an approach for a relatively expensive loan player, (Nicholls), whilst debating the future of the existing manager (Mike Newell). This begs the question that was Kevin Blackwell approached about the Luton hot seat back at the start of the year? If so, was Nicholls' asked to return to his old haunt knowing that any management change would involve his former manager, Blackwell?

Speculation of course, but it may shed some light on the timing and weakness of Nicholls' reasons for wanting to leave.
