Leeds Healy 'Proud' of Hat-Trick
Leeds United striker David Healy has talked of his pride at becoming the first ever Northern Irish footballer to score two hat-tricks in International football. Healy's treble came in a 4-1 win against the mighty Liechtenstein and comes after he knocked three past a rather indifferent Spanish side. The goals now take his Northern Ireland tally to 27 goals in 55 games, not bad for a man who has scored just 8 goals in 25 league starts (and 10 sub appearances)!
Healy told the official Leeds site: 'When you are a striker you don't have many chances to score a hat-trick at any level, never mind international level, so to score two in the same qualifying series is special,' said a delighted Dave, who took his record-breaking international tally to 27 goals in 55 games.
'The family were all there to see the game and I am a proud man.'
Northern Ireland now go on to face current league leaders Sweden who are currently unbeaten, conceding just 2 goals on Wednesday night.
