LUFC Jansson - Up To Everyone To Show Some Balls
Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson says the players must prove it on the pitch if they are to stay at the club next season.
Leeds ground out a 2-2 draw at Reading on Saturday with Jansson on target but they have now won just one of their last fifteen games to slip out of the play-off places and into the bottom half of the season.
The run is Leeds worst since they recorded just one win in 18 games in 1996 and Jansson says they had a long chat after the humiliating 3-0 defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road last week.
"We had a good talk after the game against Wolves," Jansson told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
"We sat down for 30 minutes in the dressing room. Now it`s up to everyone to show balls and to prove if they want to stay in Leeds. They have to show it now on the pitch.
"If you we want to be here next year then we have to prove it on the pitch but I think we took a step forward. We showed more character."
As well as scoring on Saturday, Jansson also avoided a yellow card and he is now safe from a two-match suspension under the totting up system. Jansson has managed to avoid a yellow card in his last eight games to avoid a suspension for ten yellow cards over the season.
