LUFC Heckingbottom Pleased For Youngster
Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom was pleased for young goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell after he played well in his first start for the club in almost two years.
The 21-year-old was given his opportunity in the starting line-up against league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers with regular goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald dropped after a string of poor performances and Andy Lonergan out of the side through injury.
Peacock-Farrell made a string of good saves in the first half as Leeds came under an avalanche of attacks from the visitors and despite conceding twice in the first half, the performance of the former Leeds academy product, kept the scoreline respectable.
Heckingbottom admits he threw the youngster in at the deep end against the Championships leading goalscorers but he was happy with his performance.
"I was pleased for Bailey," Heckingbottom told the Leeds official website.
"He was thrown in at the deep end against the standout team in the league.
"He was always going to be busy and he performed well, he can be pleased with himself."
Peacock-Farrell was at fault for Wolves third goal as he came rushing out of his goal giving Benik Afobe the easy task of lobbing the ball into an unguarded net but it didn`t take away from a fine performance from the youngster who must surely retain his place when Leeds travel to Reading on Saturday.
