LUFC Leeds United Fan View v Ipswich Town

LUFC Leeds United Fan View v Ipswich Town

Vital Leeds United contributor King Billy made the trip to Portman Road and he gives us his view of the performance.

Leeds lost 1-0 after having Eunan O`Kane sent off in the first half.

Wiedwald 6
He could do nothing with the goal. He made one good save in the second half from Callum Connolly.

Berardi 6
He looked comfortable at right back. He did well not to react when an Ipswich player looked for a reaction from him. Shame Jansson then decided to get involved.

Jansson 6
Defensively he was good but he was a walking time bomb in the final 15 minutes. He picked up a needless yellow card when he had won a free-kick. It looked like he was trying his hardest to be sent off in the final ten minutes.

Cooper 6
He played well alongside Jansson. I am not sure how he managed to put his effort over the bar in the last ten minutes.

Anita 6
He looked better, an improvement on his recent performances.

O`Kane 2
His ill-discipline cost us three points. It didn`t look like he did much from my angle but he didn`t argue with the decision.

Phillips 7
He won a number of balls in midfield with strong tackles. I though his yellow card was harsh and he is now close to suspension. He really needs to behave in the next few weeks.

Cibicki 3
He missed a great chance to give us the lead and he was taken off with an injury inside half hour.

Hernandez 7
He looked our most likely candidate to score.

Roofe 6
He worked very hard but with no end product.

Alioski 5
Games like this pass him by and he never looks the same player when Saiz is missing.

Subs

Sacko 5

He offered us very little. I would have preferred to see Stuart Dallas involved.

Shaughnessy 5
He was brought on at half time to strengthen the middle. He didn`t do enough for me.

Lasogga 5
He almost got us an equaliser in injury time. I think he needs to start next weekend as he gives us more of a threat up front but we desperately need a striker.

Summary
The red card definitely changed the game. We were enjoying a decent spell when the red card came out of nothing. Even with ten-men, we still looked capable of winning against a very nervous Ipswich side. Only a fantastic strike could separate the two sides and we still had chances to earn a point in the final ten minutes.

Amazingly, the defeat did very little damage to our place in the league but we cannot continue like this. Injuries and suspensions are mounting up and all we are doing is building a squad for the future. We need British based players coming in with knowledge of how to battle in this division.
